The Plahte Estate is one of the largest privately owned properties in Norway. At the Estate, it is possible to rent large areas of land, where you and your friends have exclusive rights for hunting during your stay. Boats, cabin etc are included in all offers. For hunters inexperienced with the Norwegian nature, we can supply guides.

The sizes of the terrains range from about 8 000 up to almost 40 000 acres. Some lies near the fjord, others lies far up in the mountains. The species you find in the different areas varies accordingly. For details, please read description below, or contact us.

Number of hunters and dogs indicates how many hunters and dogs the price includes. By clicking on the terrain you will get a closer description. From this description, you can see photos and a map of the different areas.  You can also click on the description of the cabin to get details. 

On most terrains, there are no other cabins in the hunting area, and no one else are allowed to fish or hunt.

Øvre Kalvvatn has a total size of 40.000 acres. It lies far into the mountains, where few people go. There is a road into the area that is closed for normal traffic. The terrain lies between 350 and 1000 meters amsl. About 1.800 acres of the terrain is well suited for hunting for grouse with dogs. The rest is mainly ptarmigan land. There is a simple hut with space up to 4 people in the center of the terrain, at 500 meter amsl. The fishing in the area is very good, and we recommend bringing a fishing rod (fishing rights included). 

Kalvkruvatn has a total size of 15.000 acres. The terrain lies from 260 to 1000 meters amsl, and has about 4.000 acres of good terrain for hunting after grouse with dogs. In addition, about 1000 acres has a mixture of grouse and woodland birds. Parts of the terrain is rather hilly. A comfortable cabin lies at 270 meters amsl. It takes about 3 hours to get to the cabin, including two boat trips (press link to the cabin below for details). The fishing in the area is very good, and we recommend bringing a fishing rod (fishing rights included).

Åbjøra Øst has a total size of about 10.000 acres. It is primarily a terrain suited for ptarmigan hunting, but has also some smaller areas with woodland birds and grouse. The area is not suited for hunting with dogs. The hut is primitive, but gives shelter for up to three people. The terrain is relatively easy to walk, but there is a partly steep ascent from the cabin to ptarmigan land. To get there, you take a boat from Granbostad to a landing place close to Åbjørstua. From there, it is between 4-5 km of walking along an old road once used for forestry. It is possible to use an off road bike for this trip. The fishing in the area has a high quality, and is included in the price.

Åbjørdalen has a total size of 13.000 acres. It has a combination of grouse, some woodland birds, and also large areas with ptarmigan. Parts of the terrain is hilly and steep, other parts are easy to walk. The cabin holds a good standard, and has 8 beds. The fishing in the area has a high quality, and is included in the price.

Åbjøra sør has also a size of 13.000 acres, and is similar to Åbjørdalen, but where the areas for grouse is smaller (about 2000 acres), and the areas for ptarmigan hunting is bigger (and better). There are also some woodland birds in the area. For this terrain, you stay in the old farmhouse at the abandoned Åbjøra farm. The house needs restoration, but it gives a good shelter. There are some mountain lakes with very high quality fishing on the terrain.

Granbostad has a size of 8.500 acres. Here you will find very good areas for ptarmigan, and also areas with wood-land birds and grouse. The terrain is partly hilly, and there is a steep ascent to get to the areas with ptarmigan. Here you will stay in a comfortable house, the old farmhouse of the abandoned Granbostad farm. There is a good fishing in the area (included).

Glømmen has a size of 11.000 acres, and is one of our best places for ptarmigan hunting. It has also about 2.000 acres with grouse and woodland birds. Here you stay in a primitive log cabin, with room for up to 4 people. Parts of the area with grouse is hilly, and can be difficult to hunt with dogs. To get there you walk 1 km, and then take a boat over to the cabin. The fishing in the area has a high quality, and is included in the price.

Urvold has a size of 7.500 acres, and is a good terrain for hunting grouse. You will also find areas with forest birds, and areas with ptarmigan. The cabin is of high standard with space for up to 6 people. It is a steep (but not to long) ascent to get to the higher areas of the terrain. A second primitive log cabin lies further into the terrain, and can be used without extra cost. The fishing in the area is very good. Up until the 15th of September, it is also possible to fish for sea trout and salmon (included).

Terråkmarka is in total about 16.500 acres and has good areas for both both woodland birds, grouse and ptarmigan. The cabin is simple but comfortable, and is located in the central part of the area.   In this area the local fishing and hunting organization have hunting rights so you are not guaranteed to be alone, but we have never experienced this as a problem. The fishing in the area is good and varied, and is included in the price.

Harangsfjord- has a size of 7.500 acres, and has areas for woodland birds, grouse and ptarmigan. (each of about 2.000 acres.) This is our steepest and most hilly terrain, and you should be experienced with walking in rough terrain. The cabin has a high standard, and has space for 6 people.  The terrain is not recommended for hunting with dogs. The fishing in the area is very good. Up until the 15th of September, it is also possible to fish for sea trout and salmon (included).

Vassbygda has a size of 15.500 acres. It is a varied terrain with good areas for woodland birds and for grouse. Parts of the terrain is easy to walk, and well suited for hunting with dogs. The cabin has a high standard, with electricity and running water. The different fishing possibilities are among our finest.
