Åbjøra Øst has a total size of about 10.000 acres. It is primarily a terrain suited for ptarmigan hunting, but has also some smaller areas with woodland birds and grouse. The area is not suited for hunting with dogs. The hut is primitive, but gives shelter for up to three people. The terrain is relatively easy to walk, but there is a partly steep ascent from the cabin to ptarmigan land. To get there, you take a boat from Granbostad to a landing place close to Åbjørstua. From there, it is between 4-5 km of walking along an old road once used for forestry. It is possible to use an off road bike for this trip.
