- Fishing in numerous lakes in a low strained
area (few people)
- Fly fishing both in lakes and running water
- Large areas for sea trout and salmon
fishing.
- Good possibilities also for fjord fishing.
Kalbekkvika
lies next to Storvatnet, in beautiful surroundings in the innermost part of the
Eide water system. You can reach the cabin by car. This is our most varied offer
for fishing, and there are many attractions in the vicinity for those less
interested in fishing adventures.. There are a couple of other cabins in the area, but not
so close that it will interfere with your privacy. The cabin has running
water and electricity, and houses 4-6 people.
Kalbekkvika lies next to Storvatnet, in the center of an area with a rich and
special nature. Parts of this area
has recently been put under special restrictions by the government due to its
special biology. The area has the densest
population of moose in the region. In addition to very good fishing after
trout in several lakes, you will have very good fishing after sea trout
and salmon in the main water system. There are also natural chalk caves
that can be explored, and one of Norway's best zoological gardens can be reached by car.
See our things
to do list for the area.
PS: The description of the fishing at
Kalbekkvika and Sørengvatn are almost identical. Even though the cabins lie
several km apart, they share the same fishing area.
Sea trout and salmon fishing:
Søbergsåa
is a 2 km long river between Sørengvatn and Storvatnet. The lower 1 km of this
river has sea trout and salmon, and can best be fished with spinning bait or
spoon bait. There are also good spots for fly fishing. The easiest way to get to
this river is by boat from the cabin (see map).
Storvatnet/ Fjellvatnet: The cabin lies next to
Storvatnet, a lake that connects to Fjellvatnet through a narrow passage.
Fjellvatnet ends up at Øvereidet, a short river where we have our next cabin,
approximately 13 km downstream. The lakes have (together with Urvold) the
regions best fishing for sea trout and salmon. The sea trout has an
average weight of about 1 kg, whereas the salmon has an average weight of 2 kg.
The lakes also have a good population of trout and arctic char. Of the
anadromous species, about 80% of the fish caught are sea trout. Most fishing
techniques are used. For salmon, a shiny or blue spoon bait can be effective.
For the sea trout, a spinning bait is often effective. Boat etc. is included in
the rent.
Øvereidet
/ Eidevatn: The eastern side of the river at Øvereidet
is open for our guests at Sørengvatn. This is a short and swift river. See
description for Øvereidet.
Also the last lake in this river system, Eidevatnet, is available for our
guests, but boat needs to be reserved for this lake..
Trout fishing:
Our guests have also fishing rights in several lakes
both in the lowlands and in the mountains. We bo not sell loose fishing cards,
but the local population are allowed to fish in some of the lakes. In general,
this is not a crowded place, and you can experience walking for days in the
mountain without meeting other people. The description below starts at the fjord
and lists smaller lakes in further up in the water system: (The area is used by
our guests at Øvereidet, Kalbekkvika and Sørengvatn.)
