Urvold lies at the end of an dirt road used for forestry. This is a special place, a small valley with mountains rising up on both sides. The Urvold river flows past the cabin at a distance of a few meters. The first time you are there, it is difficult to imagine where the river flows out of the valley. 

There used to be a farm here, inhabited as late as in the 1950s. Today, a modern cabin lies on the foundations of the old farm house. The cabin holds a good standard and houses 4-6 people.

The Urvold water system has a total length of about 14 km. A rather short and swift river connects the Urvold lake to the fjord. On the upper side of the lake, lies the Urvold river, flowing past the cabin.

Our guests have exclusive rights for Fishing in the upper river. Fishing in the lake and in the lower river is shared with the cabin at Ureidet. The anadromous part of the upper river goes up to about 500 meters past the cabin. Further up you have good possibilities for trout Fishing.

Sea trout and salmon:
The anadromous part of the Urvold water system consists of the lower Ureid river, the about 2 km long Urvold lake, and the first 1 km of the Urvold river (the river running into the Urvold lake) You can see a map of the anadromous part of the water system here.  

Our guests have exclusive rights in the two rivers. The lower river is swift, but there are places where you can fish with angle worm. The inlet and outlet of the river are good for fly Fishing or Fishing with spinning bait.

The Urvold river has both swift and calm parts. This is a chalk stream, where the water is very clear. From the middle of July, you can normally see the fish standing in the calm parts of the river. It is possible to fish this part of the river with fly Fishing, but it can be difficult to make the fish take the bait. During the spawning period, this is one of the rivers in Norway with the highest number of fish per square meter. Both BBC and Japanese television have done underwater filming in this river for documentaries. 

In the lake, the fishing is shared with the cabin at Ureidet. The local fishing club can also fish with one boat. It is a very special lake to fish, and many of our guests come back year after year mainly because of the lake. The Fishing is normally good during the whole season. Many different techniques are used and the method for Fishing during the night varies somewhat from the Fishing during the day. In general, we reccomend bringing brown nylon in stead of regular white (Maxima Chameleon). Next to the lake, there is a small boat house, where you can leave you're Fishing gear, or get a few hours of sleep if you need a break from the Fishing. 

In the water system, about 75% of the fish caught are Sea trout, 15% is salmon, and about 10% is anadromous arctic char. The average water flow is about 5 m3/ second.

The yearly catch from our guests are 500-600 kg. Weekly catches of approximately 100 kg is not uncommon during the best part of the season.

Trout Fishing: In the area around Urvold, there are many good lakes for trout Fishing. Some of the lakes are easy to reach, others are further away. It is possible to use a primitive hut at Reppavatn to better explore the inner parts of the area. Since there is only one cabin in the area, and our guests at Urvold often only go after Sea trout and salmon, the area has a very low strain. The list underneath gives a short description of some of the lakes.

Trollskarvatnet (140 meters amsl): Lake with trout of varying size and quality. Size normally up to 0,5 kg. 

Glømvatnet (140-160 meters amsl): Long valley with three lakes. Trout and char in the two lower, trout only in the two upper. The fish has fine quality, and size up to 2 kg. In the lowest of the three lakes, we allow Fishing with net.

Sjålivatnan (205 meters amsl), lies betwneen Glømvatnet and Trollskarvatnet, and has often bite willing fish of good quality and size up to 1 kg. 

Skavvatnet (320 meters amsl): Almost circular lake with fish off very good quality. Size up to 3 kg. 

Reppavatnet (170 meters amsl): Trout lake with fish of medium quality. size up to 0,5 kg. Boat available upon request.

Fjord Fishing:
The Fishing in the fjord is normally good. You can either fish from land at the outlet of the Ureide river, or you can drive to Helstadløkka (20 minutes) and rent a boat there. We can also arrange a cruise on the fjord with experienced fishermen. 

Additional information:
Service, boats etc: New guests are met at the cabin to receive information about the place. Three boats are included in the Urvold lake. 4 made beds are included.
