This is a beautiful place to spend a week if you look for varied Fishing in the mountain, including good possibilities for fly fishing in running water. Be aware, however that it takes you two to three hours to hike from the car to the cabin. The nature is hilly and beautiful, with mainly low vegetation in the upper parts of the area, and higher vegetation with mostly birch and pine in the lower part.

The lodge is situated 100 m from the lake Kalvkruvatn (268 m above sea level). Access by car from the E6 at Smalåsen, then 21 km to parking. From there 1.7 km hike to lake Mellavatnet which you cross by boat. Then 1 km hike to lake Kalvkruvatn where you find your boat and row to the lodge. Expect to spend 2-3 hours from the car (boats etc. are included). The cabin fits groups of 4-6 people, and has a good standard. 

Fishing: 

This is among our best places for inland trout fishing, Most guests come back year after year. Our guests have privileged rights to fish from Mellavatn and down to Trongen, about 8 km. In the lake, trout with size up to 1 kg is common. Occasionally, also larger fish are caught. (Largest fish in recent years: Kalvkruvatnet: 4,1 Kg. Mellavatnet: 2,6 kg). In the river downstream kalvkru, common size is about 300-500 grams. There are many good spots for fly fishing, but also good conditions for fishing with spinning bait etc.

The area is far from civilization, without any easy communication with the outside world. You should therefore have have some wildlife experience to rent the Kalvkru. 

Service
On request we can arrange for our guide to meet you where you leave the E6 to accompany you to the lodge and inform you about the area and the Fishing. To some extent we offer tailor made guiding and assistance. (Not included in the price). Firewood and propane is stocked in the shed. You must bring your own bed linen or sleeping bags. Our guests must leave the lodge cleaned and in proper order.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE: Normally on Saturdays. The boat in lake Mellavatn is available from 13.00 on the arrival day and must be returned to the same place no later than at 13.00 on the departure day, so as to be available for new guests. If you want assistance from our guide it should be arranged when booking. Shorter or longer periods of stay can be discussed.

There is no GSM coverage by the cabin, but coverage some places in the surrounding mountains. Boats: In Mellavatn: One 14 foot with outboard engineIn Kalvkruvatn: two boats, one 11 and one 12 feet. All boats are in aluminium.

Additional information:
The pension house "Nams inn" at Namskandan will give you the key to the cabin and key to open the  road barrier of the construction road. Life-jackets must be braught or requested in advance.
