This
area of 17 000 acres lies close to Terråk. The lower part of the Terråk river
offers Sea trout and salmon Fishing. The cabin lies by Nervatn, one of several
lakes where you can enjoy good inland trout Fishing. You will also find running
water suited for fly Fishing.
The cabin lies at an altitude of 180 meters above sea level,
about three km. from where you park your car.
It is simple but nice, and contains most of what a group of
up to 4 people needs.
About 4 km further up the water system
is a small
hut called "Tønna" that gives shelter when using
the innermost parts of the area. A boat in the fjord is also included.
Salmon and Sea trout:
The lower parts of the Terråk river has several nice spots for Fishing
sea trout and salmon. This is normally a good river, but it is dependent on a
good water flow. Locals and passing through tourists
can buy fishing cards for this part of the
river.
Trout Fishing:
In the lake next to the cabin and in many of the other lakes in the area, you
will find good and varied Fishing possibilities. Members of the local Fishing club are also allowed to fish
in the area, but you will never find it crowded even at the best Fishing spots.
Below follows a
short description of some of the lakes in the area.
River between
Svartåspøyla
and Nervatnet:
The first 500 meters below Nervatnet is nice with good conditions for flyfishing
and fishing with spoon bait/angler worm.
Svartåstjørna: THe spawning conditions are bad, but
the few fish that are there has a good size (up to 3 kg). The lake is very
dark
Nervatnet, 174 moh: This is the lake that lies just
in front of the cabin. It holds a good population of troutm with "normal"
size around 250 grams, but trout above 1 kg is common. The water colour is
medium dark.
Flytjørnan, 185 moh. Lies east of Nervatnet. Trout of
good size and quality. Size up to 2 kg. Best fishing spots are in the
north eastern pools. FIsh at the outlet and on the eastern side. Best fished
in fair wheather. If using spinning bait, a combination of copper and red.
Mellomtjørna, 217 moh.
Normally fish of good quality, but some individuals are slim and of lower
quality. Fishing technique and water colour similar to Flytjønnan.
Mellavatnet, 237 moh.
The lake used to have a regulation dam and it has therefore a small white
"belt" along the shore. The lake is shalow and has a good population of
trout. Normal size up to 0,5 kg, but fish up to 1 kg is not uncommon.
Fishing is best from boat with spinner, wobler or spoon bait. The water has
a light colour and the bottomsubstrate is mainly sand and rock.
Sørvatnet, 246 moh.
Can be fished both with boat and from the shore. Common size is 200-300
grams, but fish up to 1,5 kg are not uncommon.
Tverråa, Tverråpøyla 310 moh.
and other smaller lakes: In general lakes with trout of
good quality and size. Several lakes are good for fly fishing. Size up to 2
kg in some of the lakes.
Svartvatnet, 267 moh.
Trout lake. Normally with trout of very good condition and size up to 3 kg.
(Common weight about 400-500 grams) . Use copper-coloured bait or angler
worm. Flyfishing also possible.
Small lake south of
Sørvatnet: Good population
of medium size trout. It is normally easy to get fish in this lake.
Austerlitjørna,
435 moh. Southeast of Sørvatnet. Fish of varying
quality. Sand substrate and clear water.
Fallbekkvatnet, 58 moh.
The lake lies next to
the parking spot. It holds trout of good size and quality, but the fish is shy.
The lake often used for swimming by the locals
Svartåspøyla, 111
moh.Good population of trout with size 200-500 grams.
Normally easy to get fish with different equipment. The western side of the pool
has the best fishing spots.
Additional
information:
In the late summer there is normally an abundance of berries (cloud berries,
mountain cranberries, blueberries). There is normally also a lot of mushrooms.
There is no GSM coverage from the cabin, but coverage at the parking spot. Map
