  • Exclusive rights for Fishing in a 8 km long river.

  • Fishing rights in Åbjørvatnet and in several small lakes in the mountain.

  • Several good spots for fly Fishing, easy terrain for hiking

  • Newly built salmon trap in to the area (2001).

The cabin is easy to reach. You park your car at the southern part of the Åbjøra lake, and take a boat (included) over the lake, to a landing place 200 meters from the cabin.

The Åbjøra water system is a world of splendid and pure nature, with a rich animal life and a varied vegetation. Books have  been written  about  Åbjøra and the people living there in former days. In the central part of this area lies Åbjørstua and Gamlestua.

Åbjørstua lies on the home fields of the farm Åbjørgården. The farm was abandoned in the mid 1950s. Today only the cabin Åbjørstua and the old farm house Gamlestua remains. Close to the cabins lie the foundations of a house from the Iron age. There are also several grave-mounds, casting shadows from the life in ancient times.

You can drive to Granbostad. From there, you reach the cabin by crossing the 4 km long lake Åbjørvatnet (boat included). A  path of about 300 meters takes you from the mooring of the boat to the cabin.  Åbjørstua has sleeping accommodations for 8 people. If loose mattresses are used, and Gamlestua is rented as well, the cabins can accommodate 15-20 people.

Guests at Åbjørstua have exclusive rights for Fishing in the river from the boat landing and all the way up to Trongen (see map). This is a 7 km stretch of river with good opportunities for both fly Fishing and Fishing with spinning bait.

Fishing

The Water system is rich with trout. In the Åbjøra lake, there is also a tribe of arctic char. The river Åelva runs close to the cabin

Our guests have Fishing rights in the Åbjøra lake. The fish is plentiful but of modest size. There has been caught innland trout up to 4 kg, but more common size is 300-500 grams. In 2001 a salmon ladder was built, and good populations of wild salmon and sea trout are now beeing established in the lake. Boat is included.

Mountain lakes are also available, but it takes some walking to get there. We recommend spending a night and day Fishing in the mountains. The summer nights never get dark, and it can be very special to sit outdoors at 4 am and enjoy eating your newly caught mountain trout while watching the sun rise higher in the sky.

Additional information:

Boat in the Åbjøra lake is included. Hiking is made easy in most parts of the area thanks to an old road for forestry equipment (no longer  used), and bridges over some of the rivers. An offroad bike can be used on this road.

In the autumn you will normally find an abundance of mushrooms and berries (blueberries, wild raspberries, mountain cranberries, cloudberries) that you are free to collect.

The offer is based on weekly rental. Arrival on Saturdays 1400 hrs. Departure next Saturday at 1300 hrs. Other times and durability can be agreed upon.

The cabin has pillows and duvets, but you must bring your own bed linen, unless otherwise  agreed upon. There is no mobile coverage in the area (Coverage 10 min. drive by car and some places in the mountain). Map reference: M711: NR.1824 I and IV and 1825 II and III.
