  • Cottages in unspoiled nature, many with several miles to nearest neighbour.
  • From primitive cabins to high standard cottages that fits two families.
  • High quality fishing and hunting, abundance of berries and mushroom.
  • Beautiful Wild life with many birds, and a high population of moose.

The Plahtes Eiendommer estate is, with it's 160 000 acres, one of the largest privately owned land areas in Norway. This is one of the least polluted areas in Europe. The nature is unspoiled, and the water  so fresh you can drink from practically every creek.

At our property, you can rent a comfortable cabin and experience the peace and excitement of the wild. You can walk for hours without meeting other people, you can catch your fish for dinner, and in the autumn you can collect from the abundance of berries and mushrooms nature provides.

It is important to understand that we do not run a hotel, neither do we run a large "camping-spot". Upon arrival you will receive a key to the cabin located in the area you have chosen, and you will be free to enjoy your stay according to your personal wishes. We will, of course, be glad to give practical advice and to recommend activities particular for the area. If you wish, we can also arrange special events and supply guides to show you the wilds.

In addition to  splendid nature, you can  explore natural chalk mines, paddle in a canoe, visit one of Norway's foremost zoological gardens, walk through the mountain "Torghatten" or have a midnight cruise on the fjord- to mention some of the possibilities.

Please contact us for suggestions of where to stay. Our offers range from primitive huts far into the mountains  to comfortable cabins where you can drive your car to the front door.

Granbostad is an old farmhouse from the turn of the century, and has a capacity for 7 people. The house has been restored to what it looked like in the 1920s. The house lies 500 meters from the parking spot, and overlooks the Åbjøra lake. There are a few other cottages in the area, but not so close that it will impose on your privacy. This is perhaps the most out of the ordinary house on our property.

Åbjørstua, and Gamlestua are located near a river, far away from the nearest neighbour. You park your car next to the lake Åbjøra which you cross by boat. A path of some 300 meters takes you to the cabins from where you moor the boat. The two cabins lie about 100 meters apart. Åbjørstua is a modern cabin, where as Gamlestua is an old farmhouse from the end of the 19th century. If you rent both houses, the place is suited for groups up to 20 people. The cabins can also be rented individually with neither groups  feeling their privacy disturbed. The cabins are rough but comfortable (Gamlestua is now being restored). Walking in the area, you can find remains after a house from the iron age and several Viking graves, showing the history of ancient times in this very secluded valley.  The current farmhouse was abandoned in the mid-50th.

Kalbekkvika  lies next to Storvatnet, the innermost lake of the Eide water system. The cabin has a good standard, with electricity and running water. There are several lakes with good fishing in the area, and the area has one of the densest population of moose in this region of Norway. The nature is very special, including natural chalk mines to explore. Next to the cabin lies a wood heated sauna.

Sagmestereidet is a place no one leaves unaffected.  The cabin lies on a small hill, overlooking the fjord. On the back side of the cabin lies Eidevatnet, which connects to the fjord through the short river Eide. The area around the cottage has recently been placed under special governmental protection due to its very special biology. To get to Eide, you need to travel by boat. We are happy to arrange the trip, maybe in combination with fishing in the fjord on the way out? The cabin houses 6 people, and has a recently built sauna next to Eidevatnet.

Fugleburet lies approximately one hours easy hike from the parking spot. This is a primitive but comfortable cabin. The area is very good for hiking, and there are several good lakes and streams where you can fish. The cabin is  suitable for a family of up to four people. During winter time, it is a nice place to go skiing, and the lake by Fugleburet provides good ice-fishing.

Kalvkruhytta is our most secluded cabin. The nature is magnificent and the fishing is normally exceptionally good. During summertime, it takes about 3 hours to get to the cabin, including the crossing of two lakes by boat. The cabin is suited for a group of 4-6 people having some experience of life in the wilderness.

There are also several other cabins that can be of interest, depending on you're preferences. Please contact us for further advice
